Route 66 Welcome Center-Conway, MO

Our First Enormous Rest Stop Overnight and How We Found It

Sue and I have been full time RV since June of 2017, yet until today, October 15 2020, we had never overnighted at a roadside REST STOP. While doing our route planning with RV LIFE Pro/Trip Wizard and the Harvest Hosts locating application, we discovered the Route 66 Welcome Center in Conway, Missouri at Mile Marker #111.

Conway is located between Lebanon and Marshfield, Missouri. We stopped & stayed at the westbound rest stop. The eastbound side of Highway 44 also has the same style gussied up rest stop setup!

Since it was listed as a Harvest Host location, we immediately felt comfortable scheduling a stay! We entered the proper name listed by Google for this stop into RV Trip Wizard, and it immediately found it. We pressed “Add to Route” and we were on our way! Time to add this adventure to our ever expanding repertoire.

83 Automobile and 79 Truck/RV Spaces Available!

This is a nice place to take a rest break from driving. Additionally, the center offers clean restrooms, quick snack or beverage vending machines, travel brochures and maps.

Inside the center during business hours, visitors can enjoy the impressive and classic Route 66 decor.  The centers staff was helping folks with all sorts of information about the immediate area and the tons of attractions Missouri has to offer.

Additional perks at this stop are a playground, spacious picnic sites and  a large area to walk pets.

How do you patronize this Harvest Host?

This Harvest Host stay was free. We all have hopefully been paying our taxes, so we felt fine finally getting a freebie with the Dutch Star!

The hustle & bustle of the parking lot started to calm down around 7pm, and by 9pm was almost dead silent. This overnight stay was very peaceful for us, and we slept amazing! Not sure how the experience would be with a 600HP diesel idling next to us. We got lucky with a bumper pull trailer next to us.

PRO TIP: Try to pick a spot that will attract other RV's to park along side you. If you come in last, YOU should park near them.

As a rule, your fellow RV’er isn’t going to be idling their trucks diesel engine and refrigeration trailer diesel ALL NIGHT LONG. Sticking with the old adage “Birds of a Feather Flock Together” is probably the way to go when using a truck stop rest area.
