Museum of American Speed – Lincoln, NE
The Museum of American Speed is a popular museum located in Lincoln, Nebraska, dedicated to showcasing the history and evolution of American automotive and racing culture.
Harvest Hosts locations are made up of a unique collection of businesses that have the ability to accept the large vehicles of the RV community onto their properties. Stays at 4698+ wineries, breweries, working crop farms, Alpaca farms, museums, rest areas, private airfields and golf courses are just some of the adventures awaiting!
Once the business joins the Harvest Host Network, they are able to list and elaborate on the experience their particular location offers. Contact information to check availability for your stay will be listed. A link to their attraction website will be listed if one exists.
A photo gallery by the Host as well as uploaded photos of folks that have already stayed at the place will be listed. Reviews of past stays by travelers before you will give you valuable data and insight to decide if this Harvest Hosts is one you might enjoy staying at.
The maximum length of RV that can maneuver in their facility and the number of RV sites offered will be included.
The Harvest Hosts program qualifies in the “too good to be true” category of life! Staying at these places is like having the attraction you are traveling to visit right in the campground you arrived at!
All classes of Motorhomes, Schoolies, Fifth Wheel, Travel Trailers, Camper Vans, and Truck Campers are welcome. The one important requirement is that your rig must be “self contained.” It must have its own interior toilet and built in holding tanks for all kinds of waste water. Tents, pop-out campers, minivans or sleeping in cars or trucks is not allowed.
Approximately 80% of the Hosts can accept vehicles of any length. The online directory allows you to filter locations by the OVERALL COMBINED LENGTH of your rig. There are three categories: LESS than 29 feet, LESS than 44 feet or GREATER than 45 feet. If you are towing, it is allowed to disconnect and separate your vehicles into two shorter ones to see if that will work!
Other online data listed will be: 1-The maximum number of sites available. 2-The surface you will be parking on (Concrete, gravel, grass, asphalt). 3-The rare occasion of water, electric or sewer availability. 4-The hours of the Harvest Hosts business operation.
Generator use IS ALLOWED with the usual “good neighbor” etiquette expected. Nearly all Harvest Hosts allow pets on leashes, and appreciate you picking up after them! Most of the Harvest Hosts locations are open year round. Some of the farms and vineyards may have seasonal operations.
Our advice is to check the Harvest Hosts location to see if a special event is happening on the weekend you are thinking about stopping in. This is to make sure that date isn’t closed to RV parking. The facility may need its full parking lot capacity that weekend for one reason or the another.
If they are open to travelers the day you are scheduled to arrive, YOU MAY be able to get written into their “expected arrival” records. Our experience has been that keeping logs & records like this is not a high priority for a Harvest Hosts member!
Harvest Hosts has a new way to contact your favorite (or future favorite) Harvest Hosts locations as of 2021. You will fill out a request form online. Requests may be made up to six months in advance which is nice for those of us who like to plan ahead. But remember, this is just a request. Hosts do their best to accommodate every Member that requests, but they may be full on your requested day. As soon as your request is submitted, your potential Host is notified, and you receive a confirmation in your email. You can get more information on how to request a stay HERE on the Harvest Host website.
Please make at least a $20 purchase to show your appreciation at any Harvest Host location. This is their only compensation for allowing you to park overnight. You’ll have a peaceful place to stay overnight and something to look forward to at the end of a travel day.
You will be able to enjoy buying local products and you’ll have the satisfaction of knowing that you’re helping a small business grow and thrive. Buy produce from the farm, golf at the golf courses, sip some wine from the wineryies or buy tickets to attend one of the many museums!
Hosts remain in the program to share their business with you, and to both end up with a win-win experience during it. Without purchases, they will just experience increase operating expenses, and soon have no incentive to remain in the Harvest Hosts network.
