National Indoor RV Centers

6 Locations Nationwide & Growing

How our relationship with NIRVC began.

When Sue & I retired in June of 2017, we decided to drastically change our life.  We had ZERO complaints on the way things were going, but wanted to embrace a new normal on this next chapter for us.  To find out more about how Sue & Mark ended up becoming full-time RVers, check out this blog post on our website: https://ourjourneyinmyles.com/about/

Once we had come up with the idea to tryout full-time RV, unlike most normal people, Sue & I jumped in headfirst.  We had no sleeping bags, no tent, no grille and no experience.  But we had a truckload of enthusiasm, and I (Mark) have an awesome wife. (Sue)

Studying irv2.com every night for a year, we settled on buying our USED 2014 Newmar Dutch Star Model 4369.  We bought it from a private seller, and thought since Newmar was a high-quality luxury name brand, when it needed repairs we would just take it to a Newmar dealership.

That should be simple right? You just make an appointment, bring it in on the prescribed day, camp in their parking lot campground and plug in, they start working on it the next day, they would fix it with qualified technicians, you pay your hard-earned money, and we would leave and be good for a year or so.

Need Repairs? Boy Were We Wrong…but NOT right away.

Turns out that all the planets in the universe were in alignment the year, month, day & hour  Sue & I RANDOMLY called NIRVC in Atlanta the first time we ever needed to take our rig in for repairs. We had NO IDEA what we were about to experience was a miracle, only to be repeated at other NIRVC locations,…….BUT NO WHERE ELSE.

THEY DID NOT start our conversation asking us if we bought it from them, and GUILTING US into regretting the very second we bought our rig from a private party, rather than from them.  THEY DID NOT imply that we were way less important to them as customers because of that.  From the moment we finally got connected with the right party, over the phone, from 250 miles away, we were able to verbally fill out a work request with our service representative and make an appointment.

“We just made an appointment @ NIRVC-Atlanta, brought it in on the prescribed day, camped in their parking lot campground and plugged in, they start working on it the next day, they fixed it with a qualified technician, we paid our hard-earned money, and we were on our way.”

“Boy... this RV Thing is Easy As Pie”®™... or Is It?

It was the next couple of times we needed repairs that we started to see the handwriting on the wall when it came to RV Repairs.  While at an exclusive RV Resort in Florida, we tried a few Mobile RV Techs.  It was like having Crazy Guggenheim showing up to work on your rig. They would show up with no parts and only a few tools.  One guy showed up without a ladder! And guess what?  You can only use the Techs the RV Park “works with”. (Read: Kick backs.)

Even though we were MONTHS in Fort Myers FL. we were unable to make an appointment at North Trail because they were too busy.  We could “drop it off”, but couldn’t get an appointment.  Remember,…..when you are full-time RV, dropping off your rig doesn’t work. They didn’t care, and didn’t pretend to.

Same thing happened when we were in Wisconsin.  Newmar dealer Burlington RV would only tell us to “drop it off” and they would get to it when they could.  And in Minnesota, Steinbring Motorcoach was flat out not interested in helping with our slideout because we didn’t buy from them.

I finally found a place in Wausau WI that would install a new SeeLevel Gauge System for our Tank Level Sensors.  We initially thought that install had went well, until we discovered the main control cabinet wiring damage they did during the SeeLevel Gauge install. We didn’t discover this until we were 300 miles away! The problem they created was only found by chance!

For anyone reading this article, please learn and understand the following:

Your expectations of the “Automotive Dealership” experience at an “RV Dealership” are going to be dumbfoundingly lacking in every metric possible.  Customer care, professionalism, respect for your time, the caliber of the facility, understanding of your issues, and the money you paid for the RV and will be paying for the repair is of ZERO POINT ZERO IMPORTANCE TO THEM.

Eventually the need for another repair brought us together again with NIRVC-Atlanta. We were prepared for the worst, because we figured our first encounter had only been a gift from God.  Imagine our joy when the following UNBELIEVABLE thing happen!

“We just made an appointment @ NIRVC-Atlanta, brought it in on the prescribed day, camped in their parking lot campground and plugged in, they start working on it the next day, they fixed it with a qualified technician, we paid our hard-earned money, and we were on our way.”

It literally brought tears to our eyes. By this time we had started our YouTube Channel, and we knew we had to tell as many folks as possible we had found the holy grail and the promised land.  Every experience seemed like an adventure to us. Our full-time travel anxiety is always greatly lowered when they take us in, look at our rig, fix us up, and get us out back on the road again.

We can never predict when we will need NIRVC, but we can predict they will always help us when we do.
