See What an Expert Says

We should all know by now that RV A/C units need a SoftStartRV unit installed on it, regardless of how new your RV is. This should be accepted not by listening to a random RV Youtuber like me, but from the resident RV electricity expert of record Mike Sokol from RVTravel.com and  RVElectricity.com

A while back, Mike did a number of excellent, in-depth reviews and video’s about his experiences with the SoftStartRV product. His high speed instantaneous “Oscilliscope Screen Captures” of the high in rush current during starting A/C units both WITHOUT & WITH a SoftStartRV Device installed are worth a thousand words.

Playing It Safe… Stay Off the Roof

Now not all of us are comfortable with hooking up the five wires that require a basic understanding and respect for electricity.

And for myself, the issue was my age and physical prowess.  I have none!

The thought of climbing up on a possibly slippery and hot roof stopped me in my tracks, and I never could get past that.  Working on my 71 year old knees, hunched over during the installation was just not something I was willing to endure.  And my roof top has 1200 watts of solar, so there is limit places to be stepping and walking. You need to be sure footed, and have great balance up there. I am out.

So how did I solve my dilemma for the first 4 years? I never installed these devices, and set myself up for premature A/C unit failures. It was finally after my second A/C unit failure during my ownership period of our used 2014 Newmar Dutch Star RV, that I had an epiphany. I decided I needed to get “someone else” to get my SoftStartRV units installed!

We Purchased Soft Start - They Installed

I set out to find an RV dealer or Mobile Tech that I could trust to DO THE INSTALLATION FOR ME! I wanted to purchase the (3) units ahead of time so I would be ready to have them installed at MY CONVENIENCE.  I settled on trusting National Indoor RV Center in Lawrenceville GA (NIRVC) at https://www.nirvc.com/  to do the install. This way, I would get them installed PROFESSIONALLY while visiting them for my annual motorhome maintenance needs, a two birds with one stone maintenance stop!
